The most recent drivers will not only be technically superior, they often boast features that you will not find in the default drivers. I've read a few things about people having problems with SP3 but the solution that most people recommend is to go back to SP2 until Vista comes out which will fix everything.
I use Windows 7 now but did have XP on this machine.
